Safari in Bardia National Park ( Western Nepal)
It lies 585 km. away from Kathmandu, and is situated south-west of Nepal. Recently, rhinos have been translocated from Chitwan, to this area of riverine forests, grasslands and low wooded hills. Lying along the Karnali and Babai rivers, the park is an important preserve for the rare gharial crocodile and the Gangetic dolphin.
Wilderness and relatively unexplored deep jungles of far western Nepal where wildlife is more that abundant. Remote, Challenging and offering unique adventure for wildlife and nature lovers. The Royal Bardia National Park was initially a Royal hunting reserve. It was in 1976 that it was gazetted as Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve with an area of only 368 Sq. Km. in 1982, It was renamed as Royal Bardia Wildlife Reserve Which also included the Babai River Valley. It was only in 1988 that granted a status of National Park in order to preserve the dwindling species of rare ecosystem, including flora and fauna, particularly the tiger and its other prey species. This park is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the terai providing excellent habitat for most of the endangered species of wildlife and birds. The park now covers an area of 968 Sq. Km. It was only 1994 basic facilities existed for independent visitors. It has extensive and varied wildlife-all endangered rhinoceros, Wild elephants, The Royal Bengal Tiger, Swamp deer, Black buck, Gharial Crocodile, Gangetic Dolphins. More than thirty different mammals, over 400 species of birds, many snakes, lizards , and fish have been sighted and recorded in the park’s forest, grassland and river habitats. Among these include, Langur monkey, common leopard, Jungle cat, fishing cat, large and small Indian civets, mongoose, hyena, wild dog, jackal. sloth bear, otter, porcupine, bandicoots, blue bull (Nilgai), Sambar deer, hog deer, barking dear, wild boar etc. This park is one of the best places to view the most magnificent of cats, The Royal Bengal Tigers. The chance are almost 80% depending on season.
|On arrival briefing, cultural village tour & experience the true ‘tharu’ life style, visit to ‘tharu’ museum and crocodile breeding center & Rhino stable. (this day program-me will be arranged according to your arrival time)
|Wake up early around 6:30am, go for elephant safari,return to resort and have breakfast. After breakfast relax and get ready for jungle trek to track tigers. Whole day jungle walk, have packed lunch inside the jungle around 12:30pm explore the jungle till dawn, Return to resort before dark.
Relax & enjoy the bonfire,dinner will be served at 7:30pm.
Or [if there are 3 or more person] -Wake up early around 6:30am and have breakfast,visit to Elephant breeding centre, return to resort 10:30 am and relax in beer garden or go to Patkula creek for swimming (next to resort).
Lunch around 12:00pm. After lunch go for 4WD safari inside the national park.We will stop vehicle many time & can walk quietly up to the riverbank, waterholes & watchtower, where you enjoy the beauty & wildness of the jungle scenery. Return to the resort in sunset, relax & enjoy the bonfire,dinner will be served at 7:30 pm.
|Wake up early around 6:30 am, have breakfast & go bird watching inside near jungle, return to resort before 11:30 am, have lunch and departure.
